By Shari L. Covino
The Second Annual Business Expo held on Saturday,
October 1st and hosted by The Marlborough Business
Association, presented more than twenty-five businesses
who greeted visitors throughout the day demonstrating
their products and services. Many were repeat Expo
exhibitors. Other new exhibits, like Jessica’s Garden, a
newly opened business of landscaping and garden design
and winner of the best appearing exhibit, were on hand
to offer demonstrations, catalogs, or services to the
public.

Among the many booths on display, there was something
for everyone. VNAEast offered flu shots to people in
need for seniors and the young alike. Silpada Designs
proudly presented a grand selection of jewelry, along
with BlueMoon Designs from East Haddam, while Mary Kay
Cosmetics had a wide array of cosmetics available. The
Marlborough Tavern offered New England Clam Chowder to
visitors along with displaying its ad for its
Oktoberfest bash coming up in October at the Tavern.
Glastonbury Family Chiropractic discussed spinal
concerns to anyone interested and humbly displayed a
human spine to demonstrate how subluxation affects an
otherwise healthy spine. Financial experts from Gateway
Financial, Langlois Consulting Group, LLC and mortgage
specialists Ryan Mortgage were busy openly talking to
the public about the services they provide. The Pampered
Chef offered its selection of cookware for hosting home
cookware parties. Gilpages Web Design, LLC, presented a
town of Marlborough slideshow and HarryCo was available
to talk about computer repairs. New dentist, Kullen
Gallagher, DMD of Marlborough Family Dental, PC greeted
visitors announcing his transition to the community.
“There is a good mix of exhibits,” said one resident
passing through the school’s Community Room and on her
way to the Sonitrol Communications booth.
More events of the day - the RHAM High School DECA Club
and the
RHAM Video Production Club – made their way through the
Expo interviewing businesses for its production, soon to
be broadcast on CVC Public Access. A scholarship
presented to RHAM Senior, Kalil Lane, was awarded as a
result of the achievements he received in the school’s
business program. As part of another business awareness
program, students also from Elmer Thienes Elementary
School 6th grade class arrived with a list of interview
questions for businesses in an effort to learn more
about the Town’s businesses and how businesses generally
operate.
