Keeping in Step at Bodyworks Fitness Center
By Shari L. Covino
Marlborough is lucky to have an all-inclusive
fitness center amongst its MBA membership. In business
since 1993, owner Janice Flanigan started out what began
as a desire to exercise and have a full time job. The
routine job has turned into a monumental life career for
Janice.
When asked how she got started in this business, Janice
replied that the business was for sale, she needed
employment, a place to workout, and a place where she
could bring her daughter on a daily basis. Now, 12 years
later, the business has evolved from there and
membership has grown throughout the years.
Janice keeps up with the times, using high quality
equipment. She explained that when she began, adults
brought in their children while they worked out. Those
children are now adults, and many of them have also
become members at Bodyworks.
“It has really worked out. I love what I do,” Janice
said as she then provided a quick tour throughout the
exercise rooms.
Working out and keeping in step at Bodyworks means
members can enroll in over 50 fitness classes per week.
Members use the cardio vascular equipment, weight
training equipment, and free weights which includes
cycling classes, yoga, Pilates, muscle conditioning,
kickboxing, step, or aerobics. And that’s not all – the
fitness center also offers babysitting both mornings and
evenings, massage therapy, nutrition therapy, facial
rejuvenation, personal training. It is a full service
fitness facility with shower rooms and a tanning
station.
